Going Home is the second film in an experimental series of temporal harmonic films.
Shot during early evening around North Sydney, on the surface the film is simply footage of traffic on the expressway and tiny jets in the sky.
Once the footage was cut together, however, it was overlaid upon itself with 50% opacity. On each cut, this overlay gradually slows down until at the end of the cut it has almost stopped.
Cars pass through each other, a plane overtakes itself, leaving itself behind, nearly frozen in the night sky.
The result is a fluid bending of time which blends movement, revealing graceful actions by the participants that would otherwise go unnoticed: the temporal equivalent of multiple harmonising notes creating a chord which is more interesting than the individual notes comprising it.
Going Home was officially selected for screening at the 2018 dLux Media Cinematheque in Sydney.
